Shopify doesn't, by default, offer a method to capture your customer's tax numbers when placing an order. Should your couriers require tax or VAT details from your customers in order to book shipments, there is a workaround option to place a custom form field into the Shopify checkout workflow to request a tax number from your customers so this information can be passed to Shiptheory and on to your couriers.
Important: The guide below is technical in nature, is not supported by Shiptheory and is provided on an as-is basis. Shiptheory cannot be held responsible for any downtime to your Shopify store. Consider hiring a Shopify Expert if you aren't comfortable undertaking the steps described.

Once completed, you should have a new field visible on your cart, something like below:
Head to your Shopify settings in Shiptheory, click the grey Advanced Settings icon in the bottom left and scroll down to the Customer Tax Number Cart Attribute setting. Enter the name of the new custom field you have added to your checkout in the previous step. For example, in the image above, the field is named "VAT Number".
Once complete, click Save.
